What are endocrine disruptors?
Updated September 2026 · Educational, not a substitute for your clinician.

Endocrine disruptors are substances in air, water, food, personal care, and ordinary products that can interfere with how hormones work. Metabolism, fertility, mood, growth, the timing of puberty. Hormones are messages, not a mood. When the message blurs, the body still tries to run the same programs.
They are not one poison with one name. They are a traffic pattern. Some exposures are studied next to cancer-cell behavior. We say cancer when that is the word. We do not say a glass lunchbox erases a diagnosis, and we do not say these chemicals “cause autism.” Evidence on learning and attention is mixed and multi-causal. Associations stay associations.
What to do
- Heat is the loud knob: do not microwave food in plastic.
- Decline a thermal receipt when you can. Wash before you eat.
- If a new toy smells like a factory, wash it. Kids still play.
- Fragrance-light on the next leave-on. You do not empty the bathroom tonight.
- Both adults, if you are trying. Sperm take about three months.
Short answers
- Is this only a fertility topic?
- No. Fertility is one room this chemistry can touch. The same weekday map matters for a house that already holds allergy, asthma, early puberty, or a hard diagnosis. It is not the headline of every illness.
- Do I need an EDC-free house?
- No. There is no honest badge that says that. Lower the load you actually touch: heat, receipts, scent, dust. The rest can wait.
- Where is the long map?
- Endocrine Disruptors is the twelve-room guide. Epigenetics for Fertility holds the trying, the partner, and the clinic. Before the Appointment is for the visit already on the calendar.
Next, if you want one room: what leaves, and what stays. Or fragrance.
The rest of the house
This is one room of Endocrine Disruptors. Epigenetics for Fertility sits next to it. Appointment this week? Before the Appointment is open.
